Pchum Ban

Cambodia has a lot of public holidays, and when I say a lot I mean a whole month worth spread all through out the year. One of the most important holidays is Pchum Ban, which literally translates to "Ancestors' Day". It's a 15-day religious festival, with the national holiday falling on the 22nd - 24th of September this year.

Khmers would usually go to the pagodas to pray and pay their respects to deceased relatives of up to 7 generations. Taylor and I went to the Mongkolvan Monastery yesterday, the closest pagoda in our area, to see and take photos of the festivities. Unfortunately we were too late and most of the people there were already deep into their siestas. Well, today is another day. Plenty of time to take more photos of our last holiday in Cambodia.
