OUDONG MOUNTAIN | KAMPONG SPEU

I never imagined I would get to visit graves of the Kings of old, much less the rumored tomb of Buddha himself. My fascination for history and passion for discovery led me on top of Oudong Mountain at the sun's highest peak no less. The former capital left me majestically breathless.
Trai Traing, with its four bayon faces, lay in the middle, built for King Norodom's father, King Ang Duong in 1891. To the right is Damrei Sam Poan, the final resting place of King Soriyopor and was built in the 17th century. To the left, Chetdei Mouk Pruhm stands, built for King Monivong who died in 1941. And lastly, a few hundred steps to the top of Oudong, is the stupa that is said to house the remains of Buddha.
